SUZY LEDERMAN
March 2002

This bodybuilder mom of eleven-year old twins began pumping iron when she was thirty-nine years old.  Having never been athletic before hitting the weight room, she says her first trainer laughed behind her back.  For Suzy, however, bodybuilding was a positive way to deal with a mid-life crisis.  Suzy is a drug-free bodybuilder who currently holds three titles, the 1999 NABF Florida Supernatural Overall Champion, the NABF Junior Nationals 1st Place Middleweight, and the NPC Gold Cup Classic 1st Place Lightweight.  She earned her pro card in 1999, and plans to compete in her first professional show in June 2002.  Suzy pushes out from under the bench press to reveal her love for her best friend Greg, Ab Fab, and sexy underwear.

What country are you yearning to travel to?
Kenya.

Having been a part of this era of AIDS, how has it impacted you?
I lost my best friend, Greg, in 1986, and many ohter friends throughout the years.

What are you addicted to?
Nothing.  I don't have any addictive personality, and when it comes to the gym, everyhting is well-planned and documented.

If you were granted one wish, what would it be?
For people to love and accept themselves.

What do you like least about your appearance?
Nothing in particular.  I do have musscular dysmorphia [malformation], so I wish I had an overall larger physique.  At least, if I'm uncomfortable with a certain body part, I can work on it.

How has the AIDS epidemic changed the way you think about life and death?
I am thankful for everything I have, and take one day at a time.

IWhat have you always wanted to do that you haven't done yet?
I would like to find the time to do volunteer work.

What do you fear the most?
Ignorance.

Suzy Lederman

If you could reincarnate into any animal, what would you be?
A tiger.

What do you do to relax?
Light incense and candles, read poetry, and spend time alone.

What is your favorite word?
"Go."

If you could have a dinner date with any individual, living or dead, who would it be?
My friend Greg, who died of AIDS.  We'd have a lot of catching up to do.

If you wrote a book today about your life, what would the title be?
Becoming Your Own Role Model.

What is your favorite sitcom of all time?
Absolutely Fabulous.

What can we do to help during this ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis?
More education, funding, research, and distribution of condoms in high schools.

When you get into bed at night, do you wear pajamas, nightshirt, undies, or nothing at all?
Either fabulous lingerie or, ultimately, nothing at all.  I'm an all-or-nothing kinda girl.
